How Does Trenchless Sewer Repair Work?

There are a few different options of trenchless sewer repair technology and the method used depends on the severity of your sewer pipe problem. If the pipe is in fairly good shape meaning it hasn’t completely collapsed then sewer pipe lining is an option. If the sewer pipe is severely collapsed or crushed then trenchless sewer pipe bursting technology would be the answer.

What is Trenchless Sewer Pipe Lining?

Trenchless sewer pipe lining is a new technology where a epoxy resin impregnated liner is shot through the old sewer pipe with a special machine called an air inversion machine. It uses air pressure to blow the new liner in through the entire length of the sewer or drain pipe. Then a long thin bladder is sent through and inflated with high pressure air forcing the liner to fuse to the interior of the old pipe. The liner will seal cracks, voids, and any gaps in the old sewer line and create a brand new ‘pipe within a pipe” (See Video To The Right).

What is Trenchless Sewer Pipe Bursting?

Trenchless sewer pipe bursting is a new technology that pulls a brand new pipe in underground while simultaneously breaking up or “bursting” the old pipe into tiny pieces. Also (See Video To The Right). This process requires only a few small access holes on each end of the old pipe to complete the process. With pipe bursting, it is also possible to put a bigger pipe in should you plan on expanding the sewer needs of your house by putting an addition on or adding showers and bathrooms.
